Why Most New Materials Never Leave the Lab, and How We Built Scale-Up In From Day One

Most new materials never leave the lab.

Not because the science fails. A promising material can perform well on the bench but the harder question is whether it can be made consistently, affordably, and at volume. For many discoveries, answering that takes years.

That’s the problem we set out to solve when we founded Accelerated Materials in 2020.

Rather than treating scale-up as something that happens at the end of development, we build scalability in from the outset. Our patented annular microreactors produce materials continuously under tightly controlled conditions, while AI-powered software helps researchers find the right production settings faster with far less repeat testing.

Our K-Series connects every stage of the journey:
– K1: materials discovery and lab development
– K10: pilot-scale production
– K100: larger-volume manufacturing at factory scale

A process developed on the K1 transfers up through the K10 and K100 without being reinvented at every step.

That continuity matters wherever specifications are strict, including semiconductors, electronics, energy storage, healthcare and speciality chemicals. In each, particle size, purity and batch-to-batch consistency decide whether a material ever makes it into a qualified process.
